Connect Shopify
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Paste your automation's webhook URL into Shopify and each new order runs the automation - no Zapier, app install or API key needed.
Connect it
On the automation canvas, add a trigger and choose Shopify order, then click the event name on the trigger to open Edit event. Copy the Webhook URL.
In your Shopify admin, open Settings → Notifications → Webhooks and click Create webhook. Choose Order creation (or Customer creation for new customers), keep the format as JSON, paste the URL and save.
Back in Edit event, click Listen for a test request, then click Send test next to the webhook in Shopify (or place a test order).
Turn on the signature check
On the same Webhooks page, Shopify shows the key it signs every webhook with - under "Your webhooks will be signed with". Copy it, paste it into the signing secret box under the webhook URL in Edit event and click Save. From then on, only requests signed by your store run the automation, and an order Shopify resends isn't run twice.
Using the fields
The order arrives as event.data - for example event.data.email, event.data.customer.first_name, event.data.name (the order number, like #1001) or event.data.total_price. For Customer creation, the customer itself is event.data - event.data.email and event.data.first_name. Listen for a test request lists every field with a Copy path button.
Shopify's Send test uses a sample order with made-up details, and it runs the automation if it's Active - so test while it's off, or use your own email address in the steps.
The automation runs for each request only while it's Active. While it's off, Listen for a test request still shows what arrived, so you can set up your steps first.
