How to create an Apple Wallet pass with ChatGPT

ChatGPT can create an Apple Wallet pass from a sentence. Add WalletPassBuilder to ChatGPT as a custom app once, describe the card in a chat, and ChatGPT hands back a link that adds it to Apple Wallet on an iPhone or Google Wallet on Android. The same app lets ChatGPT change the pass later, message everyone who saved it, and run a loyalty stamp card.

Last updated October 10, 2026. Facts about Apple Wallet and Google Wallet were checked against Apple’s and Google’s own documentation, linked in the sources.

The short answer

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, turn on developer mode under Settings, Apps, Advanced settings.
  2. Under Settings, Apps, click Create and add https://walletpassbuilder.com/api/mcp with OAuth.
  3. Sign in to WalletPassBuilder and approve the connection.
  4. In a chat, pick WalletPassBuilder and describe the pass. ChatGPT creates it and gives you its share link.

Nothing to install, no code, and no template to design first. You need a WalletPassBuilder account (new accounts get free pass credits to start) and a ChatGPT plan that includes custom apps.

Which ChatGPT plans work

ChatGPT planCan it create passes?
BusinessYes. Admins and owners turn on developer mode and add the app, then can publish it for the workspace
Enterprise and EduYes. Admins and owners, plus any members an admin gives developer mode to
ProNo. Developer mode on Pro only allows read actions
Free and PlusNo. Custom apps aren't available

Custom apps run on ChatGPT on the web, not in the mobile apps. If you’re on Free, Plus or Pro, Claude can do the same on every plan, including Free.

What ChatGPT can do once connected

WalletPassBuilder’s MCP server gives ChatGPT these actions. ChatGPT picks the right one from what you ask; you never name them.

You ask ChatGPT to…What happens
Create a passA pass for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, with one share link
Make a card for each person on a listOne card per person, each with its own link
Change a pass or one person's cardOnly what you name changes; saved copies update on every phone
Start a loyalty stamp cardA program with a sign-up link; each customer gets their own card
Add a stampThe customer's card shows the new stamp straight away
Send a messageIt reaches the lock screen of everyone who saved the pass, after you approve it
Archive a passIts link stops working and saved copies show as expired
Check passes, customers and creditsA plain-language answer from your account

1. Turn on developer mode

On Business

Only admins and owners can use developer mode, and each one turns it on for themselves. Open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced settings, and switch on Developer mode. You can also turn it on while creating the app from Workspace settings, Apps, Create.

On Enterprise or Edu

An admin first gives developer mode to the right people under Workspace settings, Permissions & Roles, Connected Data. Each of them then switches it on under Settings, Apps, Advanced settings.

2. Add WalletPassBuilder as an app

  1. Open Settings, then Apps, and click Create.
  2. Name it WalletPassBuilder and paste https://walletpassbuilder.com/api/mcp as the MCP server URL.
  3. Choose OAuth for authentication. There’s no client ID or secret to enter; ChatGPT sets that up with WalletPassBuilder on its own.
  4. Click Scan Tools. When WalletPassBuilder opens, sign in and click Approve, then wait for the scan to finish.
  5. Click Create.

The app now shows under Settings, Apps, Enabled apps with a Dev label. WalletPassBuilder gives ChatGPT a refresh token, so it stays connected without asking you to sign in again.

3. Create your first pass

Start a new chat, open the tools menu and pick WalletPassBuilder, or type @WalletPassBuilder in your message. Then describe the card:

ChatGPT turns that into a pass: the business name, a title, up to three fields on the front, the barcode and anything you want on the back. With no logo image, it uses a simple icon in the card’s color, and you can send a logo URL instead. It replies with the share link.

For a whole list of people, paste or attach the list and ask for “a card for each person”. ChatGPT makes one pass with a card per person, each with its own link, up to 500 at a time.

Picking the app applies to that one message. When a later message needs WalletPassBuilder to do something new, mention @WalletPassBuilder again. Before an action that changes your passes, ChatGPT may ask you to confirm it.

4. Put it on a phone

Send the share link by email, text or chat. The page it opens checks the device:

More on that step in how to add a pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

5. Change it later

A saved pass isn’t a snapshot. Ask ChatGPT to change it, in the same chat or a new one: “@WalletPassBuilder move Amelia to the Premium tier and make her card valid until March 2028.” Only what you name changes, and the card updates on every phone it’s saved on. Updates don’t use credits.

6. Run a loyalty program

“Create a stamp card for Sunset Coffee Co.: 5 stamps, a free coffee as the reward, a brown background.” ChatGPT creates the program and gives you its sign-up link. Put that on a QR sign at the counter and every customer who scans it gets their own card.

Later, “Give Sarah a stamp” adds one to Sarah’s card, and “Who joined this week?” lists your customers and their progress. For the counter itself, the dashboard’s staff scanner is quicker. See loyalty cards for small businesses for how to set up the program itself.

7. Send an offer to the lock screen

“Tell everyone with the Sunset Coffee card: double stamps all weekend.” ChatGPT shows you the exact message and which pass it’s for, and sends it only after you say yes. It appears on the lock screen in Apple Wallet and on the card in Google Wallet. You can also schedule it: “Send it Saturday at 9am.”

Keep messages rare and useful. Our wallet pass notifications guide covers what works.

Share it with your workspace

An app you create stays a draft that only you can use. To give it to the rest of the workspace, an admin or owner opens Workspace settings, then Apps, then Drafts, and clicks Publish. On Enterprise and Edu, the admin can also choose which groups get it and which actions it may use. Each person then connects with their own WalletPassBuilder sign-in, and only account admins with access to every workspace can approve.

ChatGPT keeps a fixed copy of the app’s actions once it’s published. When WalletPassBuilder adds a new one, an admin picks it up by refreshing the app’s tool list under Workspace settings, Apps.

What ChatGPT can’t do

Frequently asked questions

Can ChatGPT create an Apple Wallet pass?+

Yes. Add WalletPassBuilder to ChatGPT as a custom MCP app, describe the pass in a chat, and ChatGPT creates it and gives you a link that adds it to Apple Wallet on an iPhone. The same pass works in Google Wallet on Android.

Which ChatGPT plans can do this?+

ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, on the web. On Business, only admins and owners can use developer mode. On Enterprise and Edu, an admin can give developer mode to chosen members.

Does it work on ChatGPT Plus or Pro?+

Not for creating passes. Custom apps aren't on Plus, and on Pro developer mode only allows read actions, so ChatGPT could look up your passes but not create or change them.

Can I use it in the ChatGPT mobile app?+

Custom MCP apps run on ChatGPT on the web only. The passes ChatGPT makes still go on any iPhone or Android phone through their share link.

Does it cost extra?+

No. ChatGPT uses the same pass credits as the dashboard: one per card issued. Updates, notifications and reading your passes are free. New accounts get free credits to start.

Can Claude do the same?+

Yes, on every Claude plan including Free. See the guide to creating an Apple Wallet pass with Claude.
