Scanner app
Last updated: October 26, 2026
The WalletPassBuilder Scanner app turns an iPhone or Android phone into a scanner for your passes. Staff scan the barcode on a customer's pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and the app checks in tickets, redeems coupons, adds loyalty stamps or verifies IDs.
Get the app
iPhone: search for WalletPassBuilder Scanner on the App Store.
Android: search for WalletPassBuilder Scanner on Google Play.
Who can sign in
Anyone on your team except view-only members signs in with their own WalletPassBuilder login. Invite counter staff from the Team page with Scanner only access: they can scan, but can't edit passes, send notifications or see billing. Staff only scan passes in the workspaces they have access to.
Open the app and tap Sign in.
Sign in with your email and password or with Google, then approve the sign-in.
You're back in the app, ready to scan.
What a scan does
Each pass decides what scanning it does, so staff never have to choose. Set it in the builder under Advanced settings → Scanner app. New passes start from their template's setting.
Check in (tickets): the first scan checks the person in. Another scan says when and by whom they were already checked in.
Redeem once (coupons, vouchers, gift cards): staff confirm, then it's used. Another scan says it was already redeemed.
Verify (IDs and memberships): shows whose pass it is, with their photo, and whether it's valid. Nothing changes.
Loyalty passes always show progress, with Add stamp, or an amount box for spend rewards.
A redeemed coupon also shows as used in the customer's Wallet, unless you turn off Show it as used in the customer's Wallet for that pass. A check-in can do the same if you turn it on. Made a mistake? Tap Undo check-in or Undo redemption.
Make sure your passes scan
The app reads QR, PDF417, Aztec and Code 128 barcodes. It finds the pass from the code, so each person's pass needs its own code:
Leave the barcode value empty, or set it to the pass ID. Every person's pass then has its own code. This is the default for new tickets, coupons and IDs.
A custom value works too, as long as it's different for each person, such as {ticket_number}. The builder warns you if everyone would share one code.
A code that won't scan? Tap Type a code and enter the code printed under the barcode, or paste the pass's link.
Recent scans
The Recent tab lists your latest scans with the result. Tap one to see that pass again: opening it from Recent doesn't scan it again.
Sign out and remove access
Tap Account → Sign out to sign out, for example on a shared device. To remove someone's access, change or remove them on the Team page: their app stops working straight away. To delete your account, tap Account → Delete account.
Privacy
The app uses the camera only to read barcodes. Camera images are never saved or uploaded. Each scan is recorded with the time, the staff member and the result. See our privacy policy.
